I’m in! I’ve moved into my studio in building 6 studio #606A at Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia! It’s been a little over a month but I’ve gotten a lot done in a short amount of time. Partly because I was so excited to finally be in the space, but mostly because I’ve got shows coming up in October to get ready for. I’ll be honest, it was not easy getting this all sorted without extra hands so I hired some muscle from Lugg who had a truck and healthier vertebrae than myself to help with some of the heavier lifting and it was so worth it! Highly recommend. There’s a lot I’ve learned about this process of being in a proper studio that deserves it’s own blog post but for now I’ll say that it’s a remarkable thing to learn how to pace yourself. I don’t have to rush and get things ready for a class to come in. It’s just me, and that’s an incredible, insanely freeing feeling that I am so, so grateful for. I have lot’s of rearranging I already need to do which will have to wait until after the shows are winding down but for now it’s working just fine. Here’s the skinny on what’s happening next month.
I’ve been accepted in Art On The Avenue again this year, woohoo!!! The festival takes place Saturday October 5th from 10am to 6pm on Mt. Vernon Ave in Alexandria, VA. It’s a great event with a ton of artisans including food vendors and live music. I’ll be posting more info next week leading up to the day but I do know that at this point my booth is between Steward and E. Randolph Ave possibly in front of Los Tios restaurant. The morning of I’ll have that confirmed so go follow me on IG if you don’t already! I’m going to have a bunch of new things to share including some wearables and sketchbooks!!!
I am also happy to share that I’m participating in the 2024 Recent Works Show in Fairfax, Virginia October 18th and 19th. It’s been a long running collaboration of talented Artist/Teachers that has been held for over 20 years. I’m going to have some new original pieces this year that I’m excited about as well as some new faces participating. I hope to see a lot of you there, it’s going to be really fun!
My birthday is Thursday so I’ve taken a break this week and am getting outta dodge for a family wedding over the wknd. I’m excited and have a lot of ideas and plans but I’m realizing breaks are needed to recoup especially as I turn 55! Happy to share it all with you and hope to see you all at one or both of the shows!
Cheers, and thanks so much for being here~
